The Day Of Atonement
As
Ordained By God
“The Day Of Cleansing.”
By
Holy Moses
The Meaning Of Atonement
Every evening, parents put water in a
basin and bath their children, to cleanse the children from all dirt and
stains, after which bath parents put clean dresses on the children, anoint them
with pomade and give them food to eat. So is the Day of Atonement, between God the father and his children who are God-the-sons.
Atonement means at-one-ment. It is a ceremony performed to cleanse the people of
God from their sins, iniquities, abominations and curses, and to reunite them
with God their father. Therefore, it is wrong to call it the day of covering up
sins, for what is covered up may one day ne made open.
The right name and meaning is this – the Day of Atonement is the day of washing
away sins – Ubochi Isachapu
Njo. To wash away means to wipe off the sins and
their records and penalties, to cleanse, to forgive and forget, to set free
from the bondage of sin and its consequences.
The Importance Of Atonement
1.
It is day of mercy and
forgiveness
2.
It is day of
deliverance from sins and bondage
3.
It is a day of re union
with God the Almighty Father
4.
It is a day of rest
from work (Sabbath)
5.
It is a day of humanity
6.
It is a day of self –
examination, by which the children of God are reminded to return (restore,
restitute) anything they obtained in a wrong way back to the rightful owner
7.
It is a day of
restoring people to their destinies
8.
It is a day for prayers
and worship
9.
It is a day of
presenting burnt sacrifices to God
10.
It is an everlasting
status (event)
11.
It is a day of sober
reflection (a day of meditation)
12.
It is a day we
remembered how Jesus suffered and died on the Calvary for the sake of humanity
Different Ways Of
Atoning For Sins
1.
By
pleading for mercy and forgiveness.
2.
By
correcting the wrong. Many people reincarnate to do so.
3.
By
paying for the wrong, by using money or other materials.
4.
By
rendering services. Assuming that you offended an aged woman, you may make
peace with her by visiting her and rendering some services to her. Such
services as fetching water or sweeping her compound for her.
5.
By
gifts and offerings, which are good enough to compensate for the wrong done.
6.
By
burnt sacrifices, offered to God as sin offering, peace offering or guilt
offering. Sin offering is usually followed by peace offering. This means that
when you present sin offering, after few days you offer peace offering, no
matter how small.
7.
By
restitution, by restoring what is removed or damaged.
8.
By
turning loss into benefit, by restoring what is lost and by adding extra, which
may be 20%, 50%, 100% or more of the value.
9.
By
reflection, through quiet time and meditation, with deep sense of remorse and
repentance.
“The sacrifices of God are a broken
spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart —
These, O God, You will not despise.”
Psalm 51:17
10.
By
swapping positions. A father, who suffered so much in his previous lifetime to
care for his children, may be sent back to the same family as the last born, so
that he shall receive many favours from the other members of the families. In
future lifetimes, positions are swapped, to ensure that people are duly
compensated. The master becomes the servant, and the servant becomes the
master. The rich becomes the poor, and the poor becomes the rich. The very
important personality becomes the insignificant village man, while the
insignificant village man becomes a very important personality.
11.
By
peaceful, gentle and soft voice. A gentle and soft word turns away wrath.
“A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.
The tongue of the wise uses
knowledge rightly,
But the mouth of fools pours forth
foolishness.”
Proverb 15:1,2
12.
By
the Blood of Jesus. Always add the Blood of Jesus to your water for bath, every
day.
13.
By
secret offering. This is pleasing to God. When you keep your secret offering
before the altar of God, bow down to God, say a short prayer and tell God why
you bring the secret offering. Then, bow down and go.
The Institution Of The Day Of
Atonement
And the Lord spoke to Moses saying: ‘
also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of atonement.
It shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall do no work on that same
day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord
your God. For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be
cut off from his people. And any person who does any work on that same day, that
person I will destroy from among his people. You shall do no manner of work; it
shall be a statue forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. It
shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls, on
the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall
celebrate your Sabbath. Leviticus 23: 26-32 (numbers 26:7-11)
‘This shall be a statue forever for you. In the
seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and
do no work at all, whether a native of your country or a stranger who dwells
among you. For on that day, the priest shall make atonement for you, to cleanse
you, that you may be clean from all your sins before
the Lord. It is a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and you shall afflict your
souls. It is a statue forever. and the priest, who is anointed and consecrated
to minister as a priest in his father’s place, shall make atonement, and put on
linen clothes, the holy garments, then he shall make atonement for the holy
sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the Tabernacle of meeting and for
the alter, and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people
of the assembly. This shall be an everlasting statue for you to make atonement
for the children of Israel, for all their sins, once a year. And he did as the
Lord commanded Moses. Leviticus 16:29-34
Offerings On The Day Of
Atonement
On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have
a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls, you shall not do any work.
You shall present a burnt offering to the Lord as a sweet aroma, one young
bull, one rem, and seven lambs in their first year. Be sure they are without
blemish. Their grain offering shall be of a fine flour mixed with oil. Three
tenths of an ephah for the bull, two tenths for the
one ram, and one tenth for each of the seven lambs, also one kid of the goats
as a sin offering, besides the sin offering for atonement, the regular burnt
offering with its grain offering, and their drink offering. Numbers 29:7-11
Demonstration: Vision Of The
High Priest
Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing
before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose
him and the Lord said to Satan, the Lord rebuke you Satan! The Lord who has
chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not
a brand plucked from the fire?
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and was
standing before the angel.
Then he answered and spoke to those who stood before
him saying, take away the fifty garments from him. And to him he said, see I
have removed your iniquity from you and I will cloth you with rich robes.
And I said, let them put a clean turban on his head so
they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the
angel of the Lord stood by.
Then the angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying,
Thus says Yahweh the Lord of hosts,
If you will walk in my ways,
And if you will keep my commands,
Then you shall also judge my house,
And likewise have charge of my courts,
I will give you places to walk,
Among these who stand here.
‘Hear, o Joshua, the high priest,
You and your companions who sit before you
For they are a wondrous sign,
For behold, I am bringing forth my servant the branch
For behold, the stone
That I have laid before Joshua
Upon the stone are seven eyes
Behold, I will remove the iniquity of the land in one
day.
10 in that day, says the Lord of hosts,
Everyone will invite his neighbour
Under his vine and under his fig tree
Zachariah 3: 1-10
I, even I, am he who blots out your transgression for
my own sake, and I will not remember your sins Isaiah 43:25
Remember these, o Jacob,
And Israel, for you are my servant,
O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me!
I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your
transgression,
And like a cloud, your sins.
Return to me, for I have redeemed you.
Sing, o heavens, for the Lord has done it!
Shout, you lower parts of the earth,
Break forth into singing, you mountains,
O forest, and every tree in it!
For the LORD has redeemed Jacob
And glorified himself in Israel.
Isaiah 44:21-23
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities,
The chastisement for our peace was upon him,
And by his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray,
We have turned, every one, to his own way,
And the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all
Isaiah 53: 5-6
after these
things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of
all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and
before the lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands,
and crying out with a loud voice, saying, salvation belongs to our God who sits
on the throne, and to the lamb! all the angels stood
around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on
their faces before the throne and worshipped God, saying,
Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom
Thanksgiving and honor and power and might
Be to our God forever and ever
Amen.
Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, who are
these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?
And I said to him, sir you know
So he said to me, these are the ones who come out of the great
tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the
lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night
in his temple. And he who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall
neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore, the sun shall
not strike them, no any heat, for the lamb who is in the midst of the throne
will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will
wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:9-8:1
